Multi - instrumentalist Young and drummer Grantham formed the band in 1968 with Buffalo Springfield members Jim Messina and Richie Furay and in 1970 when Messina left to team up with Kenny Loggins, Paul Cotton joined on guitar. Jack Sundrud is the bassist, joining for the first time in 1985 . Poco has released 20 albums and Rusty Young wrote and sang their first # 1 hit in 1979 called " Crazy Love " and in the same year, they had a top 20 hit with " In The Heat of the Night," which was written by guitarist Paul Cotton. Their first album - " Picking Up The Pieces " - is heralded as having been an indispensable element in the creation of the country - rock genre of music and the " Legend " album went multi - platinum in 1979. In 1989, "Legacy " went gold. It is an honor to have these fine musicians with us at the ' Fair ' this year.
